The Office of Service-Learning asks that you participate in our study on the impact of service-learning projects on student knowledge and attitudes about their community. Your participation is completely voluntary. If you do participate, you will be part of larger data collection effort involving students, faculty and community members. Our overall goal is to get important feedback about the quality and value of service learning from each of these groups.

We ask that you take part in our study, which will consist of completing this short questionnaire at the start of the term, and a follow-up questionnaire at the end of the term. We are interested in any changes in knowledge, beliefs or attitudes that you report as a result of your service-learning experiences. For this reason, we ask you to enter your student identification in the space provided. This will allow us to compare your responses now, at the start of the term, to your responses at the end of the term.

Keep in mind that the answers you provide on these questionnaires are confidential, and your participation is completely voluntary. You do not have to answer any question that you don’t like. None of your answers will affect your grade in this or any course in anyway, and your answers will not be shared with any instructor. Your answers will be combined with other students, and no names will be used in any analysis, or in any report or presentation given based on the data collected. Also know that there is no right or wrong answers to the questions below. But we do want the most honest and accurate responses you can give to our questions, so please take your time and read the questions carefully when completing this survey.

Thank you for your participation. If you have any questions, feel free to call me, Kevin West, Service-Learning Director, Madonna University at (734) 432-5704 or e-mail me at kwest@madonna.edu.
